Membership
Membership in the CNSL provides an opportunity to become part of a professional community committed to advancing nursing excellence and professional development.
Members will have opportunities to participate in educational programmes, professional forums, conferences, research activities, leadership initiatives, networking opportunities, and other activities of the College.
ORDINARY MEMBERS
A Founder Member is a specialist in Nursing who applied for membership within one month of the inaugural meeting of the College and whose membership was duly approved and enrolled by the College.
ORDINARY MEMBERS
An Ordinary Member is a Registered Nurse who
- possesses a Master’s degree or higher qualification in Nursing or a relevant field from a recognized university or institution approved by the College;
- fulfils the membership criteria prescribed by the College; and
- has applied for membership and has been duly approved by the Governing Council.
Ordinary Members shall be entitled to participate in the activities of the College and shall have such rights and privileges as prescribed in the Constitution of the College.
Once the ordinary members pay the full amount of registration fee (10 000 LKR), they can obtain the “life members”.
ASSOCIATE MEMBERS
An Associate Member shall be a Registered Nurse who is holding a BSc Nursing Degree or Post Basic Diploma and who has applied for membership.
Associate Members:
- shall not be eligible to hold any office in the College;
- shall not be entitled to vote at meetings of the College;
- may participate in academic, professional, educational, and other activities of the College as determined by the Governing Council; and
- shall renew their associate membership annually by payment of the prescribed membership fee.
Upon completion of the relevant postgraduate qualification and fulfilment of the prescribed criteria, an Associate Member may apply for Ordinary Membership.
FELLOWS
The College may, from time to time, admit Ordinary Members and/or Associate Members who fulfil the criteria established by the Governing Council as Fellows of the College, upon the recommendation of the Governing Council.
Fellows shall:
- be entitled to hold any office in the College, subject to the provisions of the Constitution; and
- be entitled to vote at meetings of the College.
The criteria, procedures, and conditions for the conferment and maintenance of Fellowship shall be determined by the Governing Council and approved in accordance with the Constitution.
HONORARY FELLOWS
The College may, from time to time, upon the recommendation of the Governing Council, confer Honorary Fellowship on distinguished professionals who are not members of the nursing profession, in recognition of their exceptional contribution or outstanding service to nursing, nursing education, nursing research, healthcare, or the advancement of the nursing profession.
Honorary Fellows:
- shall not be eligible to hold any office in the College; and
- shall not be entitled to vote at meetings of the College.
Honorary Fellowship shall be an honorary distinction and shall not confer any other membership rights unless otherwise determined by the Governing Council.

Associate Membership: Rs. 1,500.00
